As a third generation merchant, Lynne Hyatt, Lockett’s owner, was born with the retail gene. Great Grandmother Johnson was a millinarist (she made hats!!), Grandmother Turner owned “The Gay Frock” in Columbia Mo in the 30’s, and Mom and Dad opened Lockett’s Ladies Shop in Sedalia Mo in 1941. Sister Sally has the gene too, and is still pleasing friends and family with Lockett’s in Sedalia! After a stint with the major departments stores, Lynne and family settled in Columbus. A few toddlers later (and a brief stint selling Cummins Engines) – Lockett’s of Columbus opened in the memorable Commons Mall March 1989.
We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years – but knowing and taking care of our customers will never change. We are a little “old school” and like to have something for everyone!
Stop in and let us find something wonderful for you.
